Freedom Festival unveils 2010 Festival Artwork

Cedar Rapids, IA (October 5, 2009) Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival unveiled its official 2010 artwork today.  The artwork was designed by Tyler Roos, a freelance graphic designer and visual arts instructor at Tipton High School.
“Tyler’s artwork is the artistic focal point for the 27th Freedom Festival – including the annual Freedom Festival button, schedule brochure and other communications,” noted Janet Wilhelm, executive director for Freedom Festival.  “Besides nurturing the artistic abilities of students, Tyler enjoys creating pastel drawings and other graphic design works.  His winning artwork clearly demonstrates the depth of that talent.”
“I wanted to use traditional red, white and blue as the color scheme of this artwork,” explained Roos.  “I wanted to create a strong art piece that conveyed a sense of pride in our country and community.  As the eagle peers forward, he looks with anticipation toward the future.  He puts all past struggles and obstacles behind him.  I hope anyone glancing at this artwork will see their own symbols of country and community.”
Roos and his family reside in Lisbon.
