Mediacom Communications
named Presenting Sponsor of 2008 Freedom Festival
Cedar Rapids, IA – April 8, 2008 – Mediacom Communications was announced today as Presenting Sponsor of the 2008 Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival. Mediacom and Freedom Festival staff announced the presenting sponsorship, 2008 schedule of events and new Freedom Festival website at a news conference held in the lobby of the Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
After being a media partner with Freedom Festival for more than five years, Mediacom Communications took their partnership and support of this signature community event to a new level in 2008 with their decision to be the Presenting Sponsor of this year’s 16-day festival. “Mediacom has proudly served the Cedar Rapids community for the better part of a decade,” said Doug Frank, regional vice president for Mediacom. “Becoming the Festival’s 2008 Presenting Sponsor is our way of returning support and thanks to the community.
“Mediacom and Freedom Festival both serve audiences statewide,” he added. “Not only is this our chance to give back to Cedar Rapids, but it is our chance to show our appreciation for all of our communities in Iowa.”
“We are delighted to welcome Mediacom Communications as our Presenting Sponsor for this year’s festival,” agreed Janet Wilhelm, executive director of Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival. “Not only has Mediacom been a valued media partner in the past, their continued and enhanced support and commitment to the Festival will help us make this year’s 25th annual production even more dramatic than ever.
“Freedom Festival relies heavily on the financial and in-kind support of companies like Mediacom to make producing this ever popular festival possible,” Wilhelm added. “We are extremely grateful to Mediacom Communication for taking their support of the Festival and community to a new level.”
The Festival’s official 2008 artwork now reflects Mediacom’s presenting sponsorship role and is available on the Freedom Festival website at www.freedomfestival.com .
Mediacom Communications is the nation's 8th largest cable television company and is one of the leading cable operators focused on serving the smaller cities and towns in the United States. Mediacom Communications offers a wide array of broadband products and services, including traditional video services, digital television, video-on-demand, digital video recorders, high-definition television, high-speed Internet access and phone service.
Dates for Mediacom presents Freedom Festival 2008 are June 19 through July 4. Freedom Festival celebrates its 25th festival in 2008.
