Freedom Festival issues call for information for
Salute Our Troops photo-board and website Roll Call
Cedar Rapids, IA – April 17, 2008 – Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival today announced it will again honor area military men and women with its Salute Our Troops project. This year’s two-part project includes a photo-board in the window of the Festival office at 226 2nd St. SE in Cedar Rapids displaying the photos of active duty, Reserve, and National Guard men and women currently in uniform whether abroad or stateside. A second portion of the project includes a page on the Festival’s website dedicated to the names of men and women in three categories of military service: Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard; Veterans; and, those who served and have answered the “Final Roll Call.”
The Festival welcomes 5x7 or smaller photographs of active duty military men or women – regular military, Reserve or National Guard. Photographs can be submitted by a family member in either a standard photograph or digital photo format. Names, duty stations and other information for active duty personnel will not be posted either with photos or on the website. Names, branch of service and limited information such as Desert Storm, Vietnam, Korea, WWII, MIA, Wounded in Combat will be entered on the website for Veterans and Final Roll Call submissions.
“Salute Our Troops is dedicated to honoring U.S. military men and women past and present for their long-standing tradition of service-to-country,” noted Russ Oviatt, Freedom Festival operations director. “Freedom Festival brings us together to celebrate our freedoms, it also offers an opportunity to reflect on the solemn commitment and sacrifice our military men and women and their families make to protect them.”
For additional information on the Salute Our Troops project interested individuals are encouraged to contact the Freedom Festival office at 319-365-8313 or russ@freedomfestival.com to submit names and/or photographs.
Dates for Mediacom presents Freedom Festival 2008 are June 19-July 4, 2008.
