Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival Announces
New Executive Director

January 10, 2012 -- The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Robyn Rieckhoff as the organization’s new Executive Director, effective February 1st, 2012.  Rieckhoff will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Freedom Festival.

Most recently, Rieckhoff served as the executive director for Czech Village/New Bohemia Main Street where she served as a liaison between the various community groups in this historical district in Cedar Rapids.  In this role, Rieckhoff was instrumental in securing grant funding for local businesses recovering from the area’s 2008 flooding, and in developing and implementing innovative programs for the area like the recently completed streetscaping project along Third Ave. SE.

Rieckhoff also brings marketing, communications and business development expertise to her new role with the Freedom Festival.

“Our planning efforts for the 2012 Freedom Festival have been in full swing since we wrapped up our successful 2011 celebration, but we’re eager to bring Robyn’s experience and expertise into the mix,” said Freedom Festival Board President Mark Hixson.  “She has great community connections and a passion for the Festival, and even served on our Board of Directors in the past.  We’re excited to have her join the team and lead us into another successful year of events.”

The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival, Inc., a non-profit organization, celebrates the quality of life in Eastern Iowa by providing safe, affordable and fun annual events that embody the spirit of patriotism and the sense of community and family.
