Fire & Ice Festival

Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival and the Cedar Rapids Downtown District are teaming up again this year to produce the 3rd Annual Fire & Ice Festival. This year’s festival will be December 7.

Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival will heat up the afternoon and evening with the 3rd annual Fire & Ice Chili Challenge from 4:30 – 8:30 pm, in Legends Sports & Entertainment Center, 215 2nd St. SE. The Chili Challenge will feature the culinary delights of some of the areas best chili makers, as well as offer hot dogs, hot chocolate and cookies. The Challenge is sponsored by the Quality Chef Foods, a Division of Heinz.

Don’t eat and run – the 24th annual Cedar Rapids Lighted Holiday Parade “Holiday DeLight.”  The parade, which begins at 6:00 pm, promises another dazzling display of holiday splendor with a theme of Sounds of the Season and will follow the traditional parade route in downtown Cedar Rapids.

And there’s even more. The festivities continue as Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival again lights up the evening sky at 7:30 pm with another dazzling fireworks display on Mays Island, with fireworks courtesy of Rockwell Collins.
