Job Description: Freedom Festival Internship 

The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all requirements. 

Responsibilities include:                                                          

  • Answering phone and greeting customers 

  • Assisting with inventory of Festival buttons, tickets and other merchandise 

  • Logistics, planning and preparation for the summer festival 

  • Banners- taking inventory of existing banners and ordering new banners, as needed/directed 

  • Assist with planning all Freedom Festival produced events 

  • Assist with social media efforts 

  • Running errands as needed 

  • Attend planning meetings as necessary  

  • Attend ALL Freedom Festival produced events 

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Expectations 

  • Positive attitude and high energy; Reliable, honest and trustworthy; Work as a team player.  

  • Proficient in the use of Outlook, Internet and other Microsoft Office Suite applications. 

  • Proficient in basic math. 

  • Detail-oriented and thorough; all outgoing printed material reviewed by Events & Marketing Director first for proofing. 

  • Comply with organizational policies: 

  • Attendance: Notify supervisor, in advance, of planned or anticipated absences from work. 

  • Dress Code: Be well-groomed and appropriately dressed for daily work schedule  

  • Smoking and Alcohol: Smoking and the consumption of alcohol are not permitted on the premises, in company vehicles, nor during Festival events. 

  • Always representing the festival with pride and excitement.  

Supervision & Chain of Command 

  • Supervision Received: Perform work under the direction of the Executive Director and Events & Marketing Coordinator.  

  • Comply with the established chain of command for work-related issues. 

  • 1. Events and Marketing Director  

  • 2. Executive Director  

  • 3. Board of Directors 

Work Schedule 

  • Temporary, part-time position with varying hours based on the needs of the organization. 

  • Work the hours of 9am – 3pm from mid-May to mid-July 

  • Overtime hours required during Festival 

  • Pay - $15 per hour 

 

Physical & Environmental Requirements 

  • Physical requirements include sitting or standing for long periods of time. Occasionally lifts, carries, and pushes objects up to 50 lbs. 

  • Environmental requirements include working indoors and outdoors. Travel in Cedar Rapids metro area will apply (must provide proof of a valid driver’s license).
