Bruce Wayne Gritton
He served 5 years of sea duty out of Long Beach California on the USS Peleliu. He then served 5 years of shore duty on Whidbey Island in Washington. He then went on to serve 12 years in the reserves in Rock Island, IL, and Minneapolis, MN. He was an Electronic Technician and rose to the rank of Chief. He served during desert storm and desert shield. He won numerous awards during his service.

Each year thousands of Eastern Iowa residents and visitors join together to celebrate our nation’s birthday by enjoying the many events and activities of the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival. More than 400,000 area residents and visitors attend the Freedom Festival each year. The Freedom Festival begins in June and culminates with the annual Celebration of Freedom Fireworks on July 4th.
