Balloon Glow

You’re not going to want to miss the return of our ever-popular Freedom Festival Signature Event–Balloon Glow–this year! Join us for Balloon Glow at Jones Park on Saturday, June 17th!

Watch the sun go down and enjoy time with family and friends. Enjoy MULTIPLE area performers followed by the balloons “glowing” just before dusk.

Weather depending: the caution tape will be removed and patrons will be able to get up close and personal with these amazing balloons and balloonists! NOTE: Balloons are not a guarantee. Every effort will go into having balloons, but safety is our #1 priority. All updates to weather or cancelation will be made on our social media channels. NO REFUNDS ON BUTTONS.

Day’s Live Music

Day is an up-and-coming artist who enjoys featuring her Tennessee roots and storytelling through rich and expressive vocals. Her set is made of upbeat hits in the country, classic rock, and pop genres! Her previous season included performances at The World Food and Music Festival, Iowa State Fair, Des Moines Lantern Festival, LunaFest, American Gothic Festival, and the DSM Festival of Trees and Lights!

The 34th Army Band’s Rock Group, 42 Romeo

The 34th Army Band, Iowa Army National Guard, is currently stationed in Fairfield, Iowa and is the only military band in the state of Iowa.  The Band is under the command and direction of CW3 Kent C. Wesselink of Eagle Grove, Iowa and 1SG Brian D. Pappaducas of Ankeny, Iowa.  The mission of the Band is to provide music throughout the spectrum of military operations, instill in our Soldiers the will to fight and win, and foster the support of our citizens and promote our national interests at home and abroad.  The 34th Army Band is made up of citizen Soldiers whose civilian occupations include teachers, salesmen, corporate management, engineers and students.  Members of the Band live throughout Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and Nebraska.  They assemble for a minimum of one weekend a month plus fifteen Annual Training days per year.

The Bamboozlers

Founded in 2004, the Bamboozlers have become one of the Midwest’s preeminent trop-rock bands. Over the last decade they have played dozens of events including Meeting of the Minds, Music on the Bay, Live Nation VIP events at Alpine Valley and Tinley Park, and far too many phlockings to count. To date, they have released two albums, a fiery live album full of classic rock and country staples and The Other Side of the Island, which features 10 original tunes that feature special guests Doyle Grisham, Daniel Donato, Dave Zollo, Cindy Shadrick, and Robert Espe.

This is back to being a BUTTONED EVENT! Wear your 2023 festival button for entry or purchase one at the gate!

Parking will be extremely limited, so we encourage that you park and ride our shuttles. Shuttle pick-up and drop-off location is Kirkwood Continuing Education Training Center (101 50th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa).

We have also partnered with Pedal Power to get you to and from Jones Park. A limited number of golf carts will also be available to transport. A map of the venue to come!


Things to know:
– Soft-sided coolers with outside food and beverages are allowed (alcohol is allowed–NO GLASS).
(Bags and coolers will be checked for compliance before entry)
– A number of food and beverage vendors will be on site.
– Alcohol will NOT be available for purchase.
– No pets and no fireworks (including sparklers).
– Please treat the property with respect at all times.
– Smoking is NOT allowed on the grounds at any time.
