Job Description:


Events and Marketing Director


The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the requirements that may be inherent in the position.


Job Description:


  • Planning and production of all Festival events – includes Win Win Win volunteer program, Freedom Festival produced events, annual meeting & board retreat
  • Coordinating and recruiting Affiliated Events
  • Management of event planning, equipment rental, public safety and emergency planning, assisted by the ED
  • Complying with City code and county requirements to secure needed permits, assisted by ED
  • Coordination of food and beverage vendors at festival events
  • Management of event costs through detailed bidding process
  • Management of events calendar
  • Assurance of high visibility for sponsors at Freedom Festival events
  • Solicits gold button prizes as well as silent auction items
  • Supervision of festival button inventory, distribution and sales as well as sale of tickets and other merchandise
  • Creation and distribution of Schedule of Events guide- including ad sales and coordination with graphic designer and printer
  • Social media and website coordination
  • Writing and editing news releases, ad copy and online content
  • Creation of marketing and communication initiatives targeting donor cultivation
  • Public speaking for school and civic groups
  • Responsible for coordinating events committee
  • Responsible for writing board meeting minutes, creating board of directors binders, updating board list,  and tracking volunteer hours
  • Supervision of seasonal interns
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design
  • Answering phone, greeting customers, and checking voicemails
  • Other related duties as assigned


  • Positive attitude and high energy; reliable, honest and trustworthy, work as a team player
  • Practices kindness, respect and diplomacy with authority figures including Board members, Government Officials) as well as with co-workers and the public
  • 2-year degree with experience in non-profits or event planning or 4-year college degree
  • Two years of related experience
  • Proficient in the use of Internet, social media and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient in basic math
  • Detail-oriented and thorough
  • Comply with organizational policies:
    • Attendance: notify Executive Director, in advance, of planned or anticipated absences from work
    • Dress Code: Be well-groomed and appropriately dressed for daily work schedule and special Festival events; a neat and professional appearance is expected
    • Smoking and Alcohol: Smoking and the consumption of alcohol are not permitted on the premises, in company vehicles, nor during work hours during the Festival events
    • Hold ‘safety’ as the number one priority of the festival.

Supervision & Chain of Command

  • Supervision Received: Perform work under the direction of Executive Director


Work Schedule

  • Full-time permanent salaried position
  • Three month probationary period
  • Works every Freedom Festival-produced event.

  • Physical requirements include sitting or standing for long periods of time. Occasionally lifts, carries and pushes objects up to 50
