Bud Moscrip

ARMY
1946 - 1947

Walter “Bud” Moscrip served in the Army from 1946 through 1947 in Korea and then again from 1949 through 1950 in Germany. In between he was in the National Guard. Before and after his service, he worked at the family business, Hall Bicycle. He took over Hall Bicycle in 1964 when his father retired, and retired himself in 1993. The bike store is still in the Moscrip family. He was very well known in Cedar Rapids, as he was quite outgoing and personable. In 1969 he had an accident that resulted in him losing sight in one eye, and wore a black eye patch after, making him very recognizable. Later in life, he twice rode his bicycle across the United States, both times carrying everything with him while accompanied by several of his bike-riding friends. He had two sons, Walt and Karl, and one daughter Kim. He passed away in 2017 at the age of 88.
