Jack Andrews
ARMY
1964 - 1967
Jack Andrews enlisted in the United States Army on November 17, 1966. He completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, followed by electronics training at fort Monmouth, New Jersey, where he trained on a new type of communications equipment used during the Vietnam War. His entire class was then sent to Vietnam to operate and repair this equipment. Jack served one year in Vietnam before being assigned to Fort Huachuca, Arizona. While stationed at Fort Huachuca, he trained new personnel on Troposcatter communications equipment.
Jack was honorably discharged in November 1967. He was a member of the American Legion for 59 years and is a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. A lifelong resident of Linn County, Jack lived in Troy Mills for most of his life before moving to Cedar Rapids in 2004. We are proud to recognize Jack Andrews for his honorable service to our county and his continued commitment to veterans and his community.
