Scott Clemenson

1985 - 1996

Scott Clemenson grew up in southeast Iowa, in the small town of Montrose along the Mississippi River. He enlisted in the United States Army on July 12, 1985, in Military Intelligence as a linguist. He completed Basic Training at Fort Dix, New Jersey, in September 1985. Scott then attended the Defense Language Institute (DLI) at the Presidio of San Francisco, California, graduating as a Korean linguist in June 1986. Following DLI, he attended the United States Military Academy Preparatory School at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. Scott was nominated and appointed to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, entering on July 1, 1987. He graduated on June 1, 1991, as an Air Defense Artillery officer. His first assignment was with the 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Casey, Korea, where he served as a Stinger Platoon Leader and Battery Executive Officer for Charlie Battery, 5/5 ADA, until November 1993. After Korea, Scott was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he served as the Battalion Logistics Officer for 2/44 ADA. He was promoted to Captain in June 1995 and left Active Duty in June 1996, returning to southeast Iowa with his wife, Carmen Clemenson. Scott is a member of the American Legion and continues to proudly serve as Class President of the USMA Class of 1991. Duty Shall Be Done!
